1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in the "U.S. Citizenship Civics Test" app. The app is intended for users 13 years and older. We take the protection of your personal data seriously and treat it confidentially in accordance with applicable privacy laws and this Privacy Policy.

3.1 Without Registration (Guest Use)
When using the app without signing in, only local data is stored on your device:

  • Theme preference (Light/Dark)
  • Language preference
  • Study goal (daily questions)
  • Test date
  • Cached quiz questions for offline use

This data does not leave your device.

3.2 With Registration
When creating an account, we additionally collect:

  • Email address
  • Display name (optional)
  • Phone number (only for phone authentication)
  • Profile picture URL (for Google/Apple sign-in)
  • Quiz history (category, result, date)
  • Bookmarked questions
  • Quiz statistics (average, best score, pass rate)
  • Test date

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data based on:

  • Consent: For advertising and push notifications
  • Contract performance: To provide app features and user accounts
  • Legitimate interests: App improvement and fraud prevention

5. Firebase (Google)

We use Firebase services provided by Google LLC:

5.1 Firebase Authentication
For user sign-in (Email, Google, Apple, Phone). We store: User ID, email, display name, phone number (if used).

5.2 Firebase Cloud Messaging
For push notifications. A device token is created and stored.

6. Google AdMob (Advertising)

The app displays ads via Google AdMob. We request consent before showing personalized ads.

Data collected may include:

  • Device information
  • Advertising ID
  • IP address
  • Ad interactions

Premium users see no ads.

You can adjust your ad settings in the app under "Profile" → "Ad Settings".

7. RevenueCat (Subscriptions)

For in-app purchases and subscriptions, we use RevenueCat, Inc. (USA).

Data transmitted:

  • Anonymous user ID (Firebase UID)
  • Purchase information
  • Subscription status

8. Push Notifications

With your consent, we send local notifications:

  • Test reminders (2 weeks, 1 week, 3 days, 1 day before)
  • Study reminders (daily in the first week, then periodically)

You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

9. Data Storage

9.1 Local Storage
Settings and cache are stored on your device (SharedPreferences). This data is not transmitted.

9.2 Cloud Services
Firebase and RevenueCat store data according to their privacy policies.

10. Data Retention

  • Account data: Until account deletion
  • Quiz history: Until account deletion
  • Local data: Until app uninstallation
  • Ad data: Per Google policies

11. Your Rights

You have the following rights:

  • Access to your stored data
  • Correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion of your data
  • Restriction of processing

12. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time in the app under "Profile" → "Delete Account". All your data (profile, quiz history, bookmarks) will be permanently removed from our servers and Firebase.

We implement technical and organizational measures:

  • Encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Firebase token authentication
  • Secure password storage (Firebase)
  • Regular security updates

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy. The current version is always available in the app. We will notify you of significant changes within the app.
